I always love looking back on my sessions, but good lord 2020, you’re really something else! Photographing couples and families during this wild season has taught me so much. Lessons in gratitude, patience, love and slow living, all of which I’m so glad I’ve had the opportunity to learn (and if this year is anything to go by, I’ll keep unlearning and relearning for many years to come).
My Hello Baby Collection has been extra special to me this year. It’s always been one of my absolute favourite ways to capture your glorious journey into new parenthood, but in this age of reflection it feels even more magical.
I first met Jess and Michael back in February when they were just a few weeks away from meeting their first babe. They were fresh faced and glowy, all wrapped up in the giddy anticipation that comes with waiting for your new baby to arrive.
Fast forward a couple of months and I meet Jess and Michael again, this time as parents; a family. Their hearts are bigger, and their glow now comes from a different place – the deep love they have for their new little person.
It really is completely mesmerising to witness and capture just how transformative this parenthood thang can be in the space of a few short weeks. There’s so much growth that happens between couples during this exciting time, both physically (hello bump!) and emotionally, and I’m reminded how utterly miraculous the whole thing is.
I can’t go without mentioning that this sweet little gal is called is Isla Grae, and yes she is just as beautiful as her name!!
If you’re expecting a little bundle soon, I’d love for you to consider booking the Hello Baby Collection. It includes a 45 minute maternity session (at home or outdoors, like at this stunning coastal haven!), as well as a 60-90 minute newborn session once bubs is born.
And if we have to delay for any reason, that’s totally okay! Little Isla Grae was earthside for 7 weeks before we were able to document her arrival, and the shoot was still exceptionally lovely.
